My name is Jacob Cherny and I am from Perth, Australia
I chose to go on a gap year in Israel as it has been a dream of mine for a long time. I’ve grown up in quite an isolated community with role models who have all taken a year of their life to experience Israel how they pleased. Their influence motivated me to seek similar enrichment
I chose Aardvark Israel because of the flexibility they provide, as well as offering a . . balance of education and fun activities. Another decisive factor was the vast array of nationalities and cultures it brought from around the world. I had the privilege of meeting new people from the entire globe most of which I’m looking forward to reconnecting with in the future.
I partook in this semester’s Selah program, which I found very fun and informative with a great group of people to learn with. I am now an acting counselor at camp Nesher in Lakewood, Pennsylvania as a member of their sports staff teaching the beautiful game of Pickleball and as a member of their ropes team. This camp is amazing and I’ve had so much fun meeting the people here. I plan to start studying once I get back home and B”H find my way back to Israel in the near future.
