My name is Rachel Kitaygorodsky, I’m originally from New York and I went to high school in South Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
I chose to go on a gap year because I felt as though it would be an amazing and unique challenge that I would not get to experience in college. I chose Aardvark Israel because it allows for the opportunity to volunteer for an entire year in an area that interests you specifically.
I am volunteering at an elementary school at which the children and staff make my day, every day. I am both learning Hebrew and teaching English simultaneously and it is absolutely remarkable.
Before leaving for my gap year I deferred from the University of Florida, which is where I plan to go next fall.
Fun Fact: My last name means Chinatown in Russian.
