Dear Parents,
We are having an exciting and interesting first day here at Aardvark Jerusalem! With the exception of one last flight scheduled to arrive late tonight, all the students have arrived safe and sound. Our building is a-buzz with students getting to know one another. Throughout the day, the students have had time to unpack and rest, and we treated them to falafel and shawarma for lunch.
Tonight after our opening dinner, the staff and I meet with the students to discuss the upcoming days a bit more in detail. We will also be getting to know each other through a number of activities planned by the counselors (madrichim) and playing some team building games. Our orientation is packed with sessions that will help the students become better acquainted with our program and our neighborhood. The highlight this week will surely be our overnight trip to the south where we will be meeting all the Tel Aviv students as well. Moreover, Shabbat in Jerusalem will undoubtedly be a highlight as well!
Tomorrow, we will be getting to know our new neighborhood of Katamonim, as well as learning to budget and visiting the local supermarket (Rami Lavi). In addition, we will be having a tasting tour in the Machane Yehuda Shuk and making dinner together in our apartments.
