Shalom Parents, Students, and Partners,
September and the beginning of October have been exciting and meaningful for our students, filled with celebrations, professional growth, and unforgettable experiences. As we kick off a new year and embrace the changing seasons, we’re thrilled to share what our communities have been up to. Read on to see the highlights and impactful moments from this time!
Right on Track!
Our Tech Track and Culinary Track are off to an amazing start! Students are diving into their chosen fields with enthusiasm and dedication, gaining hands-on experience and learning from top professionals in their industries. The Tech Track students are exploring cutting-edge innovations, while our culinary enthusiasts are getting a taste of Israel’s rich gastronomic culture. We can’t wait to see where their journey takes them this semester!

Celebrating Rosh Hashanah
Shana Tova! Our Aardvark Israel community came together to ring in the Jewish New Year. We celebrated Rosh Hashanah with festive meals, traditional foods like apples dipped in honey, and reflections on our hopes and goals for the coming year. It was a beautiful opportunity for students to connect, share their traditions, and set intentions for a sweet and meaningful year ahead.

Hola España!
Our international adventures took us to Spain this month! Students had the opportunity to explore the deep and complex history of the Jewish community in cities like Barcelona and Girona. From visiting historic synagogues to exploring vibrant markets and tasting local delicacies, the trip was a true cultural immersion. It was a chance to learn, bond, and experience a unique slice of Jewish heritage abroad.

Combined Tiyul: Connecting the Communities
Bringing our three communities together, we had a fantastic combined Tiyul this month! Students had the option to choose one of three amazing tracks: Nachal Tzafit, The Big Crater or Nachal Mamshit. Each offering a unique hiking experience in Israel’s beautiful landscapes. Whether climbing rugged trails, exploring nature reserves, or enjoying serene views, the Tiyul was a wonderful opportunity to bond and appreciate the beauty of the land we’re living in.

Post October 7th: Honoring, Reflecting, and Learning
Last week, our students visited several key sites connected to the recent conflict, including the Nova Music Festival site and the Old Police Station Memorial in Sderot. These visits were a time of deep reflection and learning about the events that have shaped this region. Our students left with a greater understanding of the complexities of the conflict and a sense of respect for the resilience of the communities affected.

Yom Kippur in Israel
Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, was a profound experience for our students. This meaningful day of reflection and fasting deepened our students’ connection to Israel, the Jewish people, and the rich traditions of Judaism, bringing the community together in a powerful way.
We’re excited to share a special video featuring Ella, one of our students from Jerusalem, who opens up about her personal Yom Kippur experience in Israel. Watch her story to get a glimpse into the unique atmosphere of this sacred day, as felt here in the heart of Jerusalem.
As always, we’re proud of our students for diving into their experiences with open hearts and minds. September was a month of growth, learning, and connection, and we look forward to the adventures that the future will bring!
Wishing you a Chag Sukkot Sameach!
Sincerely,
The Staff of Aardvark Israel
