Shalom Parents, Students, Partners, and Staff,

Wow, here we meet again! June is nearly over and we are patiently waiting for our new students to arrive in late August. In the meantime, let’s focus on our students’ most recent adventures during our summer Plus add-on program! These students spent more than a week in Washington, DC and NY City, traveling and getting to know these two iconic US cities. Want to read about their adventures? We know you do. Scroll down to see what they have been up to

Our Plus students landed in America, where they went on a tour of the national mall and got to see the famous historical monuments. The next day, they visited the Black Lives Matter Plaza, the White House and Freedom Plaza. Right before lunch, they went all the way up to the old post office, with its magnificent view from the top of the building.

After lunch, they visited the National Museum of African American History, one of the most interesting, innovative museums in DC, with each floor telling the story of a different time period of the African American community in the States. They finished their day at the Washington Monument and had some free time to take wonderful pictures!

On Wednesday, they visited the United States Capitol Building, Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court. They had some free time to explore various museums of their choice: The Air and Space Museum, National Gallery of Art, US Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Botanical Gardens. In the afternoon, they went to Georgetown, one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in DC, where they enjoyed dinner by the waterfront.

On Thursday, the group met veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and heard their stories, followed by a visit to the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. They also attended an amazing briefing with AIPAC – the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee. And then – it was off to New York City! The Empire State Building, Macy’s, Times Square, Central Park, the High Line, The Vessel, Chelsea Market, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, Statue of Liberty – do we need to say more?!

On Monday, June 19th, our Plus students went to different summer camps, where they will spend the next two months working as camp staff.
