SUMMER | 2 MONTHS IN UGANDA OR GHANA
Plus: Uganda & Ghana
Add to your Israel experience a once in a lifetime volunteer opportunity in Uganda or Ghana! Work with children from communities-in-need, participate in trips throughout the country with the group and on your own, and connect with Israelis and Diaspora Jews your own age.
Volunteer With Communities In Uganda or Ghana
In addition to enjoying all the wonderful core components that the Aardvark Israel programs offer, participants in our “Plus” Programs will have the volunteer experience of a lifetime in Uganda or Ghana. Participants will be immersed in the environment of the TEN Center, working amongst the local youth community in schools and after-school programs, and collaborating with Israelis and Diaspora Jews from around the world. In addition to teaching, participants will engage in trips around the country, and a rich educational curriculum on social activism and the Jewish value of “tikkun olam” (repairing the world).
- Fly to the Uganda or Ghana in mid-June
- Kick-off your experience with volunteer orientation, getting familiar with the place and practicing your teaching skills.
- Volunteer in the local school and at the after-school center with community youth.
- Visit famous sites and experience incredible nature on organized trips, and on your own.
- Live with Israelis and participants from all over the world at the TEN Center
- Participate in educational seminars, discussing topics such as international development, poverty, social activism, Jewish responsibility and local culture
- Come together on special shabbatonim, and explore on your own during free weekends.
* Spots are extremely limited, and on a first come, first served basis, and final acceptance is contingent on the approval of the Project TEN coordinator.
TEN, Our Partner
The Aardvark Israel Plus Programs are run in partnership with TEN, an international development program that operates volunteer centers in developing areas. TEN brings together young Jewish adults from all over the world, to a program that combines volunteer work with local communities & service-learning in the fields of international development, culture, identity, & Jewish activism. Together with their volunteers from around the world, a core of Shinshinim (Israeli participants before their army service) live & participate in all areas of the program’s life: volunteering, traveling & studying. This is a unique opportunity for MASA participants to live with Israelis their own age, to work with them shoulder to shoulder & to get to know Israel through their eyes as well.
