Dear Parents and Students,
Sar-El week has finally arrived and the students left to have their IDF Army experience. During the week, the students volunteered in different areas and had an opportunity to learn more about Israeli society, speak to soldiers, and experience a little bit of the Israeli Army culture.
Sar-El was an incredible experience. One of my favorite moments was when we got to speak to an interrogator who investigates terrorists captured by the military, and we learned about his job. It was incredible to see somebody our age who had so much passion and strength. It was a fascinating experience, and I will never forget it. –Miri Junger
In addition to learning about the Israeli army and its variety of roles, the students learned Krav Maga, participated in combat training, and attended a spinning class. They also learned about the weapons the soldiers use, and went to a shooting range.
My weekly highlight by Shoshana Scott:
In the past five days I stayed on an Israeli Logistics base called Anatot, and it was a great experience! Our mefakdot we’re the sweetest women, and because of them we all had a great time! We got to learn a lot about the army and what soldiers do on base. We also got to learn about tanks, the different units, and lots more! I think the most exciting thing we did was doing הקפצה!
Next week, the students will be on a two-day trip to the north (Western Galilee), and this Shabbat we wil be in Tel Aviv. We have planned a variety of activities for Shabbat, such as a tour of the Nano Tzedek neighborhood, prayers with the local community, and spending quality time together with the Tel Aviv students.
Hagar is on call this weekend.
Have a great weekend,
Natali
