Gap year in israel - aardvarkisrael
The past week in Israel hasn’t been easy, but ensuring the safety and well-being of the students is our top priority. We are in constant contact with Masa and the relevant agencies to ensure the safety of all our students following the recent developments in Israel.

Even with the complexity of these times in Israel, our week was filled with many wonderful highlights.
On Sunday, students received the second dose of the covid vaccine. The students were filled with so much positive energy as we all look forward to the “end of covid” in Israel.

On Monday, the Israeli Politics Class went on a guided tour of the President’s House. The students enjoyed visiting the gardens and seeing trees that had been planted by different heads of state.

Masada and the dead sea

On Tuesday, we went to Masada and the Dead Sea. We saw an amazing sunrise as we approached the top. It was a hard walk up but it was definitely worth it in the end. “We hiked up the snake trail as the sun was rising; it was beautiful! It was so interesting to learn more about the history of Masada, and I enjoyed relaxing by the Dead Sea after all the walking.” shared Talia de Beer.

Hebrew coffee activity
On Wednesday evening, we participated in a Hebrew coffee activity. We went to a local Israeli coffee house and spent the entire evening speaking in Hebrew.
We ordered in Hebrew, had conversations in Hebrew, and even laughed about it, all in Hebrew. It was a fun activity to try out what we learned in Ulpan in a real-life environment and gain confidence in speaking Hebrew. After we all enjoyed our café (coffee) and uga (cake), we all left more confident in our ability to speak Hebrew during our day-to-day life in Israel.
Horseback riding in the desert
On Thursday, students on the Extreme track went horseback riding in the desert.
“Today was my first time riding in a long time, and I had an amazing time! We got the chance to ride through the rolling hills of the Judean desert next to the Alon yishuv, and it was gorgeous! We also got to feel a bit like cowboys today, because we got to ride western style. If anyone is a big horse lover, or an adventure enthusiast, then I can assure that you’d love this great excursion!” – Shoshana Scott

This Week in (th)INK! we spent the first part of the session continuing to process the current events, both sharing personal feelings and experiences, as well as thinking about the issues in a broader sense.

Then we continued with the topic for the week, an introduction to the holiday of Shavuot, which will begin on Sunday night. We explored some of the hidden and deeper meanings of the holiday which commemorates the revelation at Mount Sinai.
Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach!

Mada – The Ambulance training course finished this week. I would like to congratulate our students who successfully completed the course. We are all very proud of you and look forward to seeing you saving lives!
